WHAT MY CLIENTS HAVE TO SAY
Mr. Gerek has
acted as our agent on three occasions: The sale of two houses and the
purchase of another.
Our first house was sold in a matter of weeks. During that time Mr.
Gerek stayed ahead of us in all aspects of the sale. He provided valuable
marketing
ideas to show our house to the best advantage, aggressively showed our
house on a regular basis, followed up each showing with a phone call
on the potential buyer’s perception of our home, then, during
contract negotiations, called us weekly to keep us informed. The whole
procedure
of selling the house was smooth and painless for us.
Our next transaction was to purchase a new dwelling. Mr. Gerek efficiently
assessed our needs, narrowed down the range based on our own personal priorities,
and found our house for us the first day (and first house he showed us).
Once again, a smooth transition, even allowing for the fact that the house
we sold closed before we closed on the one we bought. Mr. Gerek worked
with the sellers to allow us early access to move into our new house before
closing. He then checked on us well after settling into our new house to
see how things ware going and if we had anything he could help us with.
Our final sale took place long distance. Mr. Gerek handled everything he
could on his own, keeping the costs of long distance negotiations down.
Our house closed within 90 days of listing, this during the serious housing
slump of 1989. Again, we were informed no less than weekly on all aspects
of our showings.
Our regret is that Mr. Gerek cannot be our agent exclusively, no matter
where we locate. We have never matched the service he provided since,
and realize just how much we took for granted that he found easy solutions
to. We wish him the best in all he undertakes to accomplish. He’s

I recently
overheard a group of fellow naval officers discussing both the good luck
and misfortune they had experienced when dealing with
realtors and home builders in the Hampton Roads region. In light of the
same of the negative statements, I thought how lucky I was to have worked
with a fine gentleman. I want to applaud Doug Gerek.
Doug came through for my family during a particularly difficult time. I
was deployed overseas and my wife was left with the task of selling our
first home and buying a new one. Doug eased this transition considerably.
He sold our townhouse quickly getting us a good deal. He then assisted
my wife in negotiating a superb price and contract on our new home. He
visited the construction site on a regular basis, liaisoned with the builders
on problems and personally ensured my wife was happy with all phases of
the project.
I returned home six months later to a beautiful new home and Doug Gerek
was a major reason why. Frankly, I can only say good things of the realtors
in this area but when you work with the best, I guess you’re biased.
Doug is a true professional in every sense of the word. Trustworthy, honest
and jovial, we consider him a good friend and an invaluable asset to Professional
